Our mission is to help establish 100 new commercial & sustainable dragon fruit farms every year and reach 1000 dragon fruit growers around the world by 2025.

In keeping with Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission to double farmer’s income by 2022, it is a step towards achieving the coveted objective. The initiative will also support post-harvest value chain and bring in efficiency that will benefit the economy at large.

The Birth of DragonFlora Farms
Indian farmers are currently struggling with ways to promote their indigenous farm produce, it’s almost heartbreaking to imagine how they rigorously and tirelessly work on their farms night and day only to yield unimpressive volume. After 4 years as an assistant professor in the state agriculture university and additional 3 years as scientist horticulture in a corporate world with giant like Tata Chemicals limited, on a very fateful event I came across this very typical looking fruit dragon fruit/pitays, when I tasted it, I was amazed; I fell in love instantly at first bite only to be dismayed by the few farmers who were growing this exquisite fruit; it was saddening to behold the poor working conditions, most of these farmers were struggling for better Quality, Mass productivity, Open Market, Promotion and a Reliable Distribution channel in order for them to produce more delicious and quality dragon fruits.
Dragon Fruit quickly got my attention, I dived into in-depth research on market survey, global market for the fruit, collaborations, existing market, Sales and promotion strategies and other vital information that would be playing a part in proper execution of the business venture. The Major focus was on the potential value in this crop to double and appreciate Indian farmers income, I gathered my hard-working and devoted farmers who were carefully selected based on their years of skills, devotion to the success of the scheme and ability to embrace innovation. Therefore with my in-depth research and analysis I contributed my knowledge which in return could boost their production quality.
My passion to embark on my Entrepreneurship journey has been a craving I have always yearned to satisfy. This devotion gave birth to Dragon Flora. DRAGONFLORA has become both a personal and business goal I strive diligently to accomplish.

More About DragonFlora Farms Founder
Dr. Sunila Chahal aks Dr Flora is Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certified professional and one of India’s most prominent technical experts and mentors, she is the proud founder of DragonFlora Farms LLP, the First and Only registered venture in India related to the SUPERFOOD Dragon Fruit/Pitaya which is headed by a technical subject expert and Providing One Stop Solution to its customers (www.dragonflora.com). Her startup got incubated at RAB-I, IGKV Raipur under GOI Agri-Incubation program RAAFTAR and awarded grant-in-aid for value addition in dragonfruit. Her venture has been widely covered by media and she has trained over 1000 dragon fruit farmers till now. After doing a great deal of research and survey, she discovered the potentials of dragon fruit and believes that it has good immense potential scope to boost the Indian economy and double the farmer’s income. She believes so much in her findings that it leads to the formation of DragonFlora. In pursue of knowledge she travelled extensively to countries where dragon fruit is the major crop and gained first-hand information from the growers themselves. She also interacted and learned from professors and scientists at SOFARI- a prominent institute of prestige especially for Dragon fruit, in Vietnam. Since the inception of dragon flora, she has profoundly distributed her skills and knowledge of agricultural economies and dragon fruit farming to farmers, entrepreneurs, students, and interested agricultural personnel across the country through:

• Farmers development programs
• Organizing awareness and technical trainings
Over the years, because of her vast and excellent knowledge and mentorship skill in the agricultural field, she had trained over 1000 farmers in her successful workshops on dragon fruit farming alone. Apart from this she is and certified organic farming trainer and promotes the adoption of organic farming practices.
Dr. Sunila’s philosophy is a blend of humanitarianism and socio-economic development, which is reflected in her passion for agricultural development and reformation. She has been serving the farming community for almost a decade in various capacities and strives to develop sustainable solutions for them. She has a rare combination of professional work experience in government, corporate as well as entrepreneurial environments. Her career is decorated with Chancellor’s Gold medal, best paper awards at various national and international conferences, recognition from the Govt of Haryana. She is a life member of six national societies related to horticulture and has been invited as an expert and judge in various horticultural events. Her life purpose is to empower rural women and youth to live a respectable life, through mentorship. Her favourite slogan is ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan , Jai Vigyaan’’.
Our Aim
Our aim is to promote commercial development of Dragon Fruit in India by providing quality planting material, educating growers, providing training and consultancy that helps them improve their socio economic status by increased income.
We offer one stop total solution for dragon fruit farming, to help growers to gain maximum benefit from this high income generating crop. At DragonFlora, we provide farmers, scientifically-grown, superior quality Dragon Fruit planting material prepared from well establish, high yielding mother stock which have been tested for a decade and found to perform best under Indian conditions. Apart from this, we are engaged in varietal improvement programs in collaboration with various national and international agencies, to develop new Dragon fruit varieties for India.

Leveraging our considerable knowledge base and insights on Dragon Fruit cultivation, we have successfully replicated the ideal cultivation environment at our farms and adopted global best practices in cultivation to achieve very lucrative economics. Passionate as we are about our mission, we are eager to engage in knowledge transfer and share these learning and other success stories with farmers through a range of initiatives including experiential learning (Live Demo of Dragon Fruit cultivation), workshops and consultancy.
We also offer sale of fresh Dragon Fruit to individual customers, retailers and export houses. In addition to our primary focus – Dragon Fruit, we also help cultivate Jamun, Guavava, Moringa and Custard Apple and plan to expand our range to include other similar tropical and subtropical fruits in the near future.
